Efficient storage of hydrogen is a key element for most fuel cell applications. Hydrogen in compressed gas cylinders is commonly used in the industry for years and suppliers like Air Products, Linde Gas and Air Liquide do offer these cylinders thru an extensive distribution network today. Especially for fuel cells in the power range from a view Watt to several 1000 Watt the storage of hyrdogen in metal hydrides is an interesting alternative. Metal hydride does absorbe hydrogen at low pressure (app. 10 to 30 bar) and can be refilled a 1000 times using high purity hydrogen (quality 5.0). A Metal Hydride Storage Tank can store about 300 to 400 times of hydrogen as the volume of the tank used (depends on metal hydride material used). Metal Hydride Storage Tanks can be refilled from compressed gas cylinders or from electrolyzers (with dryer) which are capable to meet the pressure levels and purity required for loading.
